As you read this, I am off to beautiful, tranquil Luxembourg, Europe's banking nirvana for client meetings. We will not be updating our daily market commentary on our website until my return Friday.
What a Bull market - so clearly ending in either a final frothy acceleration, or perhaps already topping. Whether looking at helio Mercury/Pluto aspects this weekend or our market market day April 13 for the zeitgeist for the next few weeks - No matter. All investors from global institutions to beginning investors are advised to raise cash allocation to 40% before July.
Europe's 1/2 point rate cut emphasized their seriously weak economy. Now adding more than 300,000 Albanian refugees to the mix, this summer's eclipses across the European continent becomes even more ominous.... While I don't do softs, agricultural commodities are beginning to look like bargains. Peter Lynch says: "buy what you know and like".... Well, I drink coffee, hmmm.
WSNW Alert 37C was issued Friday. After market close, Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ) confirmed investor fears by warning that it expected its first-quarter profits to be less than half of what Wall Street had forecast. Compaq stock plunged nearly $5 in after hours trading late Friday to $26. This is surprising news? Watch Tech stocks Monday and investor sentiment on Tuesday, our market marker day for directional clues to the next short term market cycle.
Key dates: April 13, 16
DJIA: 9300-10,300

3. We are on bargain hunt watch in two ways:
1) Buying stocks like Sun Healthcare Group (SHG) which have dropped
more than 90% from their 52 week highs, or
2) Tracking Value stocks such as Boeing (BA), Eastman Kodak (EK) or
Royal Dutch (RD) which have expected future earnings growth that are not
factored into the market place.
When one analyst recently suggested buying Microsoft (MSFT) on a pull
back of 3 points, I couldn't believe he was serious about this being a
buying "opportunity": corrections of 10%-20% perhaps, but 3 points?
Give me a break!
4. The Astrofinance e-list was recently formed by a small group of dedicated astrologers, traders, and investors. It has transformed and is now under ISBA auspices for member communication of financial and business astrologers. Questions? Contact Richard Stokes.
5. We are raising the price of the Gold trading edition of WSNW subscription (Silver and Platinum remain the same) from $500 annual to $1000 annual ($300 quarterly). Current subscribers may extend their subscription for one or two years at the old rate of $500 per year until the Summer solstice. Naturally any subscription will be extended to the expiration of the current subscription.
READER: After many years having not traded the index futures, I feel
your summer could be the opportunity to make big dollars. I notice you
short the Standard and Poor's - is their a reason for this and not the
Dow index futures?
Interestingly, I was speaking to someone who follows astrology for
other reasons and I was absolutely astonished to hear them say the 11th
of August this year something would happen that would affect all of the
world - confirms what you have said all along.
I have ploughed a large piece of my capital into IHI and that is my
decision - could you give readers your opinion on how much you think its
share price would be affected by a severe correction or crash as you have
predicted for August.I realize that some shares aren't related to the indexes
however a really major correction would surely affect its price?
HW: 1) I was trained in SP Futures so SPX is natural for me to use.
DJIA is also acceptable.
2) August 11 is a MAJOR astrological event to all astrologers.
3) IHI is a "special situation" stock- its price movement at
this time tracks not so much the broad market but progress of its BC factory
completion and production.
READER: Do you know the date of birth of the US dollar? For example,
for the EURO it is the 31 Dec 1998, time 12:35.... I would very appreciate
to receive an answer from you!!!!
HW: Sorry, we are not an clearing house for FOREX data (at this
time). BTW that is NOT the time we use for the EURO.
READER: I have just read your web page, and I am interested in
knowing how you got to the exact number 7001.67 for the December 31,1999
closing on the Dow?
HW: Sorry, that information is a trade secret. Also remember
7001.67I is a trading target.
READER: I've been interested in investing but afraid to lose.
Could you tell me how to safely get started in the stock market?
HW: I recommend using a conservative AND experienced money manager
or broker.
READER: IF you [for astrological reasons] identify a power point,
let just say it's March 25th, as a 'top' -- and following this date,
the market declines by 1 or 2 days, would that be enough to validate the
call?
Or are you saying that the 'cycle being viewed' is indeterminate at
the time the power point is identified? i.e., you only know the cycle
length after it has asserted?
HW: I use two approaches, one is CYCLIC, but more often I do
the individual identification of crisis dates that can be pivotal in markets
e.g. Mexican CRASH, HONG KONG CRASH, Russian CRASH, US Mideast WAR, US
Balkan WAR etc.
In the latter case of March 25 I let the market tell me. Our July date
is more cyclic and a next to final death knell for a "bull" market.
READER: Do you have anything in the 5-April/21-April time frame
of major significance. I know a lot of cycle types have 9-April and I have
EWave counts for either 5-April and 21-April.
HW: April 5th represented the beginning of a possible new market
cycle i.e. serious testing of 10,000 as a ceiling or floor. The second
time is not important in my work although for others it is.
READER: I can't find OEY PL- could you tell me what it stands
for?
HW: These are the April OEX 660 puts. IF you are not familiar with
this, don't play such options. They are a tough game indeed as 90% of options
bought lose money.
READER: Aren't stocks being absolutely hammered if earnings aren't
meeting forecasts? I used to trade Axent Technology all last year but was
glad to be out today, although as the market overacts so much one wonders
if their is a short term trade in some of these stocks. I look forward
to your April pick- I see SHG had some news today one would have to wonder
if it is worth investing in at present with the clouds surrounding it.
HW: Short of bankruptcy, I don't believe it will drop much further.
Future surprises are bound to be on the positive side. As this is
our April Stock of the Month Club pick, let's wait and see. Remember the
dictum WHEN IN DOUBT, DON'T.
READER: From what I have read, the 1000 pt drop will occur on April
9th, 1999.
HW: Glad that was NOT my forecast!
READER: Hi Henry at what price would one get out of (IDTC) as
an investment?
HW: We have already exited as its stock price rose over 100%
in less than a month. If you wish to remain invested, use a trailing
stop.
I shorted the Nikkei cash at 16920 at 1210am after I dreamt about it
going down. The WTO couldn't be wrong- Reports never lie, right?
HW: A short from 16855 was good but why not from 17,000+?
After it breaks 16,500, it will attack 16,000 our P1 target.
