Great Portuguese Wines 5. Perez Cruz Wine Tasting at Puro Chile Chilean wines are known to be very easy on the
pocket book as well as very pleasant to taste. Here I found two
wines whose glasses I emptied more than once! Chaski 2009 Petit Verdot (PV) 91 PV, 9%
Carmenere: $28. I have been familiar with PV as a blending grape,
but this was the first time I tasted it as the main grape and it was
decidedly pleasant and enjoyable. Quelen 2008 42% PV, 33% Carmenere and 25%

Riot is a multi-city celebration of wine. Wine Riots were
designed to teach the uninitiated to love learning about wine. It is owned
and operated by a handful of people all under30 who
just want everyone to drink more wine. They
succeeded! My plus one (target audience) was happily
buzzed. I found the most value in the Spanish and Portuguese
wine section. What I would do differently? 1) I was
disappointed by lack of depth at the wine seminars- although they were
very generous in their pours. 2) While there was lots of bottled water, I
would have preferred some bread to clean my palette and also more food
choices. But bottom line: It was FUN! 6. THE JUICE Vinous Veritas Jay

All serious wine lovers will enjoy reading this! Making Sense of WINE Tasting by Alan
Young Wine Appreciation Guild (WAG) While I disagree with the Sunday Telegraph that
this is “The Ultimate Wine Tasting Book”, I found it very informative,
unique and beautifully and artistically produced. Wine teachers will find interesting material e.g. ·Almost all teachers recommend that wine
be judged against a white background, yet it is Gray (N7 or N8) that
optical specialists recommend for clearest background viewing. ·Why do we call white wine white when that
is one color it is not. ·“Wine is all about colour and smell”. Key points are highlighted for Speed reading or in
most cases for a quick review of key points. Bravo to WAG! I don’t agree that sight and smell is of equal
importance to taste. For me it is about taste (alone and with food).
However many readers will disagree with me and they are not wrong.
He analogs the presentation of food to its taste- I think a bit stretched. None-the-less, I recommend this book for all wine
educators. As for newbies, I am not sure they would benefit equally
although they certainly would have their horizons enlarged. 7. Before the rain: 25 wine euphemisms “How to learn about wine? A: Buy a corkscrew and use it! Alexis Lichine 8. READER:
