Hi-Tech is buildingTomorow's World Today. Welcome to the 21st century.
It is no secret that IHI is one of my favorite long term investing themes.
Clearly a high risk, high reward play, nonetheless, I believe that this
will be one great company. In this section, I will over time put
together a number of previous and future IHI postings.
The following notes were written soon after my return from Vancouver, B.C., where I joyfully partaked of IHI day: August 15, 1998:
"The Delta factory is almost complete, with final touches expected to be finished soon. This Hi-Tech factory is an inspiring building with a cathedral like feeling and GREAT Feng Shui. See current factory progress on their web site: IHI. With robotic equipment ordering planned and set up of one production line anticipated by Winter 99, the dreams and hopes of IHI shareholders is now extremely close to fruition. While it has taken longer than I would have liked due to financial constraints, it HAS moved forward considerably and consistently recently. We are now almost in the home stretch to the birth of the multi-billion dollar company I have long seen in my mind's eye.
I have many times stated why IHI housing is the FUTURE. the following
four of dozens of reasons why are fresh in mind after discussions with
Roger Rached Hi-Tech's president, and several members of the technical
staff as well as designers, architects, and potential clients.
1. IHI Housing = Architectural Excellence.
Architects often have to compromise to meet a tight budget. With IHI's
great cost advantages, far fewer will be necessitated.
2. FIRE Resistance = Insurance Reduction.
Already approved for 15% reduction in fire insurance in Europe, this
benefit is obvious.
3. Design a House = Grow a house
A young couple planing the future may design their dream home and put
up a minimal house and maximal for the land. As family and finances grow,
addition can be made to realize the couples dream without the need to move.
Why would anyone build a house any other way?
4. AFUND EPS Projections
Based on $ 20 million per production line and each factory is expected
to have at least 3 lines = greater than $1 per share.
Assuming the Delta factory is completed in mid 1999, and ONLY 2 more factories finished in 2000 and 5 more in 2001 and 10 more in 2002, I conservatively estimate their EPS as follows:
PS We are making vacation plans again for the beautiful city of
Vancouver BC. Like San Francisco, almost all tourists love
it and the Canadian dollar will remain a bargain.
Mark IHI day: August 15, 1999 for both a general shareholder meeting,
delta factory visit and party.
See you there? My price projection for IHI then? MUCH higher
than today? YES!"
